Part Time Special Events and Marketing Assistant (Downtown Troy, NY in Albany, CA

The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District BID is looking for part time twenty hours per week Marketing and Special Events Assistant to work with them in their Downtown Troy office.Ideal candidates will be self motivated and have work or volunteer background in the fields of marketing and events, posses an acute attention to detail, strong organizational and people skills, and the expertise to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The jobholders primary responsibilities will be working in conjunction with the BIDs Executive Director to assist in all elements of event management, from conception, through delivery to reconciliation of large events like the River Street Arts Festival, Rockin on the River Concert Series, Pig Out BBQ Competition, Chowderfest and the monthly Troy Night Out to small networking receptions, our new annual gala fundraiser.The Jobholder will also be the 1st point of contact in the BID office, and help field inquires from member property owners and businesses Downtown. Jobholder will assist Executive Director with a myriad of tasks, including Liaison with vendors, entertainers, suppliers and other contributors for all eventsOn-site event management, requiring some evening a several weekend days throughout the year minimalAdministration, publication and promotion of events and programs using e-marketing and social mediaAdministration and promotion of BID Marketing initiatives and maintenance of databases as directedAttendance and minute taking for monthly BID board of directors meetingAssistance with communications - writing and designing monthly e-newsletters, flyers, brochures and press releasesMaintenance and update of the BIDs web siteas directedManagement of college work study students and internsVarious administrative tasks as assigned, including processing invoices and filingAnswering telephones and handling general inquiries as necessaryQualificationsBachelors degree preferred, but not requiredProficiency in Microsoft office, including Ms excel, Ms word and PublisherStrong phone, written and interpersonal communication skillsStrong organizational skillsGraphic design and Constant Contact background a plusThe Marketing and Special Events Assistant position rate of pay is fifteen per hour, is part time -- twenty hours per week -- and does not offer benefits.
